I need someone to look at a car for me in Kansas City, Missouri, area. The seller is willing to meet in the area, but I just need someone to look at it, etc. If you are up to the task, contact me, post, etc.

My original plans were to have some family members look at it, but they will not be in the Kansas City, Missouri, area for 3 weeks. Well, the car may be gone before they get back.

Thanks

Cam

Parents Jetta keeps draining the battery, they still haven't been able to figure out what is causing it. My dad doesn't want to take it to a dealership or vw mechanic because they charge so damn much. :fp:

My buddies did that too. The radio would randomly shut off too. He eventually just sold it.

stonehenge
04-27-2012, 06:07 PM
The turn signal click will randomly go on/off too. Not the lights or dash indicators, just the clicking.

It's a really nice car if it wasn't for those little things and the cost to fix everything on it. Theirs is even more expensive to fix because it's a TDI. The bamf mpg is nice though.

Mr.Rogers
04-27-2012, 08:02 PM
So far I haven't had any problems with Jetta or GTI. I really like vw and eventually all cars have problems :cheeky: just pay the bills like a bawss :security:

If my brother hadn't abused the Jetta, I would I have tried to buy it off of my parents. But he abused it and it has random shit wrong with it.

Plus since I'm poor, need vehicles that are cheap to fix or fix myself.

LOL he didn't hit a parked car, he got himself T-boned while trying to park on a side street by his school.

They got him the Chevy pickup and he bitched about it constantly. So they sold it and let him drive the Jetta temporarily. He fucked it up so they bought him the Nizz. He bitched about the Nizz so we took it and they bought him the tracker. He's been happy with the tracker until recently.

I don't understand how he likes the tracker (92 or something with no A/C, fucked up handles, windows, etc) better than the bamf 85 shortbed or the Nissan. :fp:

It got better than that. It had a v6 in it and it hauled ass for some reason. Had all the emissions shit removed too :jester:

It didn't get bamf gas mileage but I don't think it was bad for an old truck.

Here is the deal.

Vulva is my stepdad's ride as they traded in his '07 Sierra to get a '12 SRX. Mom bought the Vulva new in '05, so its always been in the family. It just happens to have 154k miles. The '06 Ram only has like 58k miles on it, and had it since summer 2007 with 15k miles. It doesn't get fantastic mileage, but it seems to me a waste, as I dont need a truck much anymore. so... I am going to take Vulva and stepdad is going to get the truck as he will use it more than I ever will.

The CV sits in a garage because, well, I am really the only one who drives it. My parents drive it every once/week to keep it moving, but once I figure out where I will be (with a garage) it will come home.

Cruze Eco-D is supposed to be a diesel, but not much information on them. If I get Jetta TDI, the used market blows. A nice low-mileage 2010ish is only within a couple thousand of a new TDI....but some folks feel the new Jetta quality went downhill to make them cheaper.

I should mention this is something I plan on keeping for a long time, not just a 2-3 year type deal.

My 2010 jetta is not TDI, but I test drove one and fuck they are nice, at the time I test drove 2010 Malibu, Cobalt , focus and jetta out of all them jetta seemed to respond better they all had their good qualities but Jetta felt the most sporty out the ones I looked at. Then if u get TDI that shit be more beasty. My Wiffu is driving the jetta now but I got my self a GTI and that be sexy as fawk. :cheeky:

race2c
04-30-2012, 06:42 PM
Jeff - True. Thats sort of the reasoning I have been leaning away from used private-sale Jettas. Some Jettas are just to finicky about problems. Thus, a new one has the warranty with it.

Rogers - I have been talking to TJ (T.J.K. on GMFS/CGM/etc) about them. He has a '10 Jetta TDI. The mileage would be nice and the reliability they are known for intrigue me. Let alone, they have a little bit of an aftermarket.

Don't get me wrong, I love CVs/MGMs/MMs but the MPG is the biggest issue for me. Then again, Matt (matthimself) has been trying to talk me into a Benz CDI or similar diesel. You want to talk about pricey, even used.

shootermcgavin003

04-30-2012, 06:52 PM
I plan on keeping car for a long time, so in my simple mind, the overall costs will pay off.

Mr.Rogers
04-30-2012, 06:52 PM
Ya I didnt go with private seller for the reason of gettin the 100k warranty.

and lol benz are fucking $$$$ lol i looked at one thinking meh fawk it let me see what i can get LOL! FUUUUU and dude whats the insurance on taht kind of ride too :scared:

race2c
04-30-2012, 06:55 PM
Rogers - I was just doing simple motors.ebay searches and used E320/E350 CDIs were like 19k-22k for 05-07s with like 90k miles. Pretty much said....

:fts:

shootermcgavin003
04-30-2012, 06:58 PM
i dont see the cost of the diesel justifying the savings. plus the price of fuel is higher. i have diesel truck its nice in truck form dd not so much.

Mr.Rogers
04-30-2012, 07:01 PM
:horyshet:

Well I guess the resale value is good LOL but fuck that...
spend 20k on a Used as fuck car lol not worth it

Same thing they had one at dealership was an 08 E320 just had the year on window, so i asked. the sales man was like "Oh ya that benz right there is going for about 38k"
after he told me price I didnt even wana ask millage or anything else I just smiled and kept walking

race2c
04-30-2012, 07:05 PM
Jeff - In truck form, diesel is good and thats partially why I want a diesel car. Eventually I want a diesel truck, so in that way, I can have diesel truck and diesel car. In that way, I can justify the costs associated with making my own fuel.

Rogers - 20k on a used car, i lulzed. but whatever.

Not sure about newer VWs but my parents Jetta TDI (01 I think) didn't like biodiesel at all. Was sputtering and dieing on my brother until he refilled it with good diesel.

yes. we have a family friend who has his formulas and mixes down. his cars/trucks include powerstroke ford, diesel beetle, diesel boats, diesel tractor, everything he owns is diesel. he would be willing to give the recipes to me. the initial costs blow, but when compared to a long-term ownership it pans out.

its great as for towing hauling all that good shit. as for daily driving its kinda a headache . biodiesel has its on headaches too its not that convient. diesel cost more or takes forever to make your own plus it causes them clog up gel etc.... basically real diesel and it dont play so nice all the time. maintance is more. drivabilty isnt that great. gotta think you have 3k rpm not 6 or 7 and start/run for shit in cold. i can go on some more. like i said i like it in my truck. car give me gas.

Cam, if you plan on using biodiesel in a VW, I'd research it well first. After my parents Jetta acted crazy, my brother looked it up and the forum he found was full of people saying not to use it in TDIs. That may not be true for newer ones though, IDK.

race2c
04-30-2012, 07:22 PM
i haven't researched it enough to know if its exactly what i want yet. its only an idea in my head.

Juan - what forum?

shootermcgavin003
04-30-2012, 07:22 PM
they have alot of issues with it so does the duramax. it pretty much kills there fuel filters and all that. cummins is still a old design so it runs like on anything.

Jeff - you mean the older 12v 5.9s that are mechanical pumps?

shootermcgavin003
04-30-2012, 07:24 PM
even the 24 valves and common rails have little issues. they will run on anything pretty much. idk if its the head design or what.

Juan - what forum?

I'm not sure which one he was looking at. I googled "biodiesel tdi vw" and the first like says "The Volkswagen warranty only allows a 5-percent blend of biodiesel" so right away you are forced to stick to 95% regular diesel if you want to keep your warranty in tact.
